Merry Christmas! The Children did a beautiful job singing at the Christmas Concert.

December 17th: I can't wait to hear those book report demonstrations!!
There will not be a reading quiz or spelling test this week. We will be listening to book reports during reading.
December 18th: There is a math test on Chapter 6.
Science: We will read about Ecosystems in our book. Information about supplies for the Ecosystem project will go home over break.
Social Studies: We will be filling out study guides and making note cards in preparation for the Unit Test on Canada which will be on January 4th when we return from break.
December 19th: We will be making gingerbread houses with Mrs. Candino in the afternoon. This is a dress down day for $1.
December 20th: Mass will be followed by the Pre K and First Grade Show. We will have a special snack on that day.

*Next Tuesday, December 4th is the ELA test on nouns. The review packet in your agenda should be finished and returned for review on Monday, December 3rd.
*Please continue to make your notecards with two bullet points for chapter from the biography you are reading for you book report. The notecards will be used to write your summary and must be handed in with your summary.
*There is a math test on Thursday December 6th.
*We are reading JUMP! Next week in Reading and ABC order will be due on Thursday. There will be a reading quiz and spelling test on Thursday, December 6th. The last reading/spelling test for the calendar year will be on December 14th.
*Elves Workshop will be held during the second week of December. That is all the information I have regarding this at this point.
*Also during the week of December 10th, students will be interviewing for their permanent third grade job positions. More information will be given next week.

Reread the lessons and study your study guide and vocabulary notecards. One fun game you can play is to have the vocabulary term side up and then have someone read the definition for you to find the matching term.
We will begin talking about Canada next week.
*Science: We are starting Chapter 4, Living Things.
We had a wonderful and fun week this week. Thank you for all the candy and donations for our celebration. The children and I are very appreciative. There is a Thanksgiving Feast coming up. Mr. Gardon will be providing a list of ingredients in the foods being served. The third graders will be decorating cut out cookies as our contribution to the feast. The feast will be held on November 15th.

Monday: Staff Development Day
Due to the shortened week and El Dia de Los Muertos, we will be skill building in reading using our small readers which emphasize the techniques and vocabulary introduced thus far.
There are no spelling sentences due. We will use holiday themed spelling words for phonetic practice, but there will be no test or reading quiz on Friday.
Science: Finishing the Unit on Plants. We will complete Lesson Five on Tuesday and begin review in class for the quiz on Friday. Please continue to reread the lessons and study the vocabulary words. Quiz on Friday, November 2nd.
Social Studies: We are completing the unit on Mexico. We will fill out the study guides and will make note cards in class.
The Unit Test on Mexico is November 9th.
Math: Finishing Chapter Three. The test will be on Monday, November 5th.
